⁉️ What the Friday is that?

We’re back in the swing of things this year as we bring you photos of artefacts that are stored in our archives, every fortnight, here, at The Castle Heritage Centre. Well done to all those who guessed the ‘Candle Snuffer’ correctly last time.
This week we present to you a ‘Ice Cream Wafer Sandwich Maker’. Did you guess correctly?
Here’s a bit of history:
- The ice cream wafer, consisting of a small block of ice cream between two rectangular wafer biscuits, was a popular alternative to a cone up until what is thought to be the 1980’s.
- This device provided you with a selection of options for thickness of the ice cream sandwich when rotating the collar before squishing the blocked ice cream and wafers together to form a rectangular sandwich.
- Some people used to put extra slices of nougat and sauces with the ice cream….delicious!
Did you know we hold an inspirational collection of documents and artefacts that play an important role in Bude, Stratton and the surrounding parishes rich heritage. You can also visit us seven days a week as we are open from 10am every day (including bank holidays).
