🐰 EASTER HERITAGE FUN ON THE CASTLE GROUNDS 🐰 

📌 We have a number of events this Easter holiday on The Castle grounds, you’re in for a treat!  

➡️ Starting on Saturday 5th April, you can take part in the FREE Gurney Explorer Trail, collect a free activity sheet from Café Limelight on the first floor of The Castle Heritage Centre and hunt the museum for Gurney. You find him hiding in every nook and cranny. He holds a number of letters that you need to arrange to make a word. Once you have discovered it, revisit the cafe for a free sticker! The trail is open every day from 10am until its last day on Saturday 19th April as we will be closed on Easter Sunday. No booking required. 

➡️ You can also come along to our FREE ‘Lawn Games with Janie’ sessions on Tuesday 8th and 15th April and Thursday 10th & 17th April from 11am until 12pm. Discover some fun games such as chess and smite, plus more. No booking required, you will find Janie on The Castle lawn. 

🐠 We have the team from Bounce n’ Play with their inflatables on Wednesday 9th and 16th April, plus Thursday 10th and 17th April on The Castle Lawn. This is run by the team at Bounce n’ Play and will be weather dependent. You can find out more about them and any updates on cancellations on their dedicated Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/letsgoandparty. There is a small cost per child for these. They will be onsite from 11am until 4pm.  

➡️ Everyday you can also take part in the Fossil Fish Trail to find out some fascinating facts around the Museum. No activity sheet needed, just come along and find them whilst you browse the exhibitions. Free entry and open seven days a week from 10am.

🌷 Welcome to April 🌷 

 Spring is here and we celebrate this month with the launch of The Castle and Library Cultural Programme, which has a full programme of events for all the family through April and June. be sure to book your tickets early to not miss out on these exciting new events.  

Our newly launched inspiring exhibition; ‘Weathering The Storm’ celebrating Bude’s unsung heroes and the history of life-saving at sea, is now open to the public. 

We have more workshops and live music for you to enjoy as we start to move events outside. Don’t forget that we have new opening hours and a full programme of Easter activities for the family to enjoy.  

 We have something for everyone at The Castle Heritage Centre, Bude. We’re open seven days a week from 10am, with free entry to The Heritage Centre and Art Galleries. Café Limelight on the first floor is serving food and drink from a delicious menu with spectacular views across the beach and Castle grounds 😍. We are also dog-friendly venue. Don’t forget we are closed on Easter Sunday, but come along and enjoy our full programme of events, right here in the heart of Bude!

📌 THE CASTLE AND LIBRARY CULTURAL PROGRAMME – STARTING SOON – HAVE YOU GOT YOUR TICKETS YET? 🎟️
 
Welcome to the launch of a new and exciting annual programme of events that showcase diversity and culture at it’s best! Divided into seasonal programmes, The Castle and Library Cultural Programme will be offering opportunities to immerse yourself into unknown worlds, rich culture, entertaining performances, lyrical melodies and pick up some skills along the way.
 
📍 We kick off our Spring 2025 programme in April with Elizabeth Dale (The Cornish Bird) sharing tales of forgotten Cornish Women and Jenny Carden (The Dartmoor Herbalist) shares an exploration into traditional remedies and healing practices. The team from Live History will be on hand to share their wisdom in a mystery writing workshop. Stay around for the team to return in in this interactive evening dinner where you get to solve a mystery from visiting characters from the past.
 
📖 Our visiting authors include; Annalisa Crawford who delves into dark contemporary fiction with a hint of paranormal. Paula Rooney who talks of her solo travels after her children have flown the nest and David Myers shares tales of travelling solo through Palestine.
 
🧸 For the children we have visiting author Julie Ann Keenor and her fairy tales, a magic workshop and Mazed Tales are showing the Piskey Path Puppet Show. Families can come along and enjoy the show from the Magical Tots in their music and dance performance and those interested in folk music can enjoy tales from Rev Sabine Baring Gould’s collection.

🎤 Acoustic Music at The Castle!

Starting in January and every month throughout the Winter months, we celebrate local musicians to come and play at The Castle. nestled in the Willoughby Gallery, this is the perfect setting to come, sit, enjoy and treat yourself with something to eat and drink from Café Limelight.
