Celebrating Our Community

Throughout the year, The Castle, owned by Bude-Stratton Town Council, host and organise a number of events. All these events are for the local community to enjoy and helps celebrate our heritage and being a part of Bude & Stratton and the surrounding area.

There are three key annual events which are The Castle and Library Cultural Programme, which is NEW to 2025, Bude & Stratton Heritage Festival and a NEW Christmas event coming in December 2025. All of these are centred around The Castle, The Castle Lawn, Bude Library and The Parkhouse Centre. For the remembrance of past wars, we host a wreath laying ceremony on the anniversary of the Battle of Stratton in May and facilitate the ceremony on Remembrance Sunday.

This year we will see a bumper packed summer season of activities and workshops. The majority of these are free, but some may charge a small price for resources and entry. We will advise where this is happening.

Events at The Castle

Welcome to the launch of a new and exciting annual programme of events that showcase diversity and culture at it’s best!

Divided into seasonal programmes, The Castle and Library Cultural Programme will be offering opportunities to immerse yourself into unknown worlds, rich culture, entertaining performances, lyrical melodies and pick up some skills along the way.

We kick off our Spring 2025 programme in April with author talks, performing arts, entertainment events, live music, creative and literary workshops, along with fascinating talks by some well-known visitors. Most of these events are ticketed, so be sure to book your tickets early to secure your space.  with many visiting authors, artists, musicians and actors. Each event will be aimed at a variety of audiences and based at The Castle and Library sites, along with a plethora of supporting events provided by our external partners. Tickets will be available online from 6th January 2025.

Here at The Heritage Centre, we celebrate all things seasonal in our programme of events. Whether they are outdoors or indoors, you’ll be sure to find something that the whole family will enjoy.

We invite you to come along and join in with all our events on offer. Most activities are free, with the exception of a few workshops.

Most events are free and funded by Bude-Stratton Town Council. If they are bookable, there will be links or contact details for you to select.

Just pop along to our dedicated page to find our more details. If you would rather visit in person to find out more, you can call ahead on 01288 357302 or email our Events Officer; KTaylor@bude-stratton.gov.uk

The annual Bude-Stratton Heritage Festival has become a firm favourite in the town’s events calendar. Originally called ‘Gurney Day’, which celebrated our famous Victorian inventor, Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, the festival has gone from strength to strength and not only celebrates the wide and varied heritage of Bude and Stratton but also the many community groups the area has to offer. It’s all for fun and a great way for the community to get involved!

‘Glow’ at The Castle is a magical space to be in and with full access to the Museum, you’ll discover secrets that are only shown after closing hours.

This magical space will once again be available in December 2025. Look out later in the year for announcements for what’s in store!
