Events at The Castle
Throughout the year, The Castle, owned by Bude-Stratton Town Council, host and organise a number of events. All these events are for the local community to enjoy and helps celebrate our heritage and being a part of Bude & Stratton and the surrounding area.
There are three key annual events which are The Castle and Library Cultural Programme, which is NEW to 2025, Bude & Stratton Heritage Festival and a NEW Christmas event coming in December 2025. All of these are centred around The Castle, The Castle Lawn, Bude Library and The Parkhouse Centre. For the remembrance of past wars, we host a wreath laying ceremony on the anniversary of the Battle of Stratton in May and facilitate the ceremony on Remembrance Sunday.
This year we will see a bumper packed summer season of activities and workshops. The majority of these are free, but some may charge a small price for resources and entry. We will advise where this is happening. Check out the details below of everything that is happening this season.

Inflatables
The team from Launceston Bouncy Castles and Bude Bounce & Play bring their inflatable fun to The Castle Lawn this summer.
Find them throughout the summer holidays with various dates booked in. Please note that these are weather dependent, so it’s always best checking if your purposedly making the visit.

Circus Skills
The team from Flotsam the Fool will be joining us throughout the Summer for some special ‘Circus Skill’ workshops. Children and adults will love getting hands on and learning some new skills with our favourite circus crew!
These events run from 11am until 4pm. with free face painting and hair braiding opportunities along with some music from our summer DJ Andy King!

Detective Trails
We have a number of Detective Trails here at The Castle. The free Fossil Fish trail will take you around the Heritage Centre to find some fascinating facts about our home.
Look out for the new activity sheets in the Cafe where you can find more exciting Detective Trails and activities. There’s something for all the family to get involved in, you may need more than a day with us!
The NEW Detective Trail activity sheets will be in stock for the 26th July 2025.
Cultural Programme
Immerse yourself in a world of culture, music and arts in these seasonal programme of activities. Look out for a fantastic selection of free workshops for children and families, as well as some fascinating talks for all literature fans.

Heritage Festival
Bude & Stratton annual Heritage Festival is a fantastic celebration not only of the area but the wider Cornish culture – showcasing our past, present and future with a huge variety of exhibits, stalls, free demonstrations, workshops and activities for visitors of all ages and interests to enjoy.

A Castle Christmas
Christmas at The Castle is a magical time to visit our Heritage Centre transformed into a magical space. We have a whole weekend of activities planned from Friday 5th December until Sunday 7th December, including our annual ‘Glow’ event.
