The Castle and Library Cultural Programme
Welcome to the launch of a new and exciting annual programme of events that showcase diversity and culture at it’s best!
Divided into seasonal programmes, The Castle and Library Cultural Programme will be offering opportunities to immerse yourself into unknown worlds, rich culture, entertaining performances, lyrical melodies and pick up some skills along the way.

Spring Programme 2025
We kick off our Spring 2025 programme with author talks, performing arts, entertainment events, live music, creative and literary workshops, along with fascinating talks by some well-known visitors. Most of the events are ticketed, so be sure to book your tickets early to secure your space. For those who wish to purchase a ticket in person, you can contact our Events Officer. The details for this are in each post. Each event will be aimed at a variety of audiences and based at The Castle and Library sites, along with a plethora of supporting events provided by our external partners.

Author Visit

Julie Ann Keenor – Author Visit
10am – Workshop One, Saturday 10th May 2025 (Suitable for children aged 0 – 5 years)
11.30am – Workshop Two, Saturday 10th May 2025 (Suitable for children aged 6 – 9 years)

£5 per ticket (includes a signed copy of the author’s book, ‘Fairies of the Night’).

Wear your favourite magical fairy outfit for this fairy-fantastic event at Bude Library with local children’s writer and illustrator, Julie Ann Keenor on Saturday 10th May. The £5 fee will include a signed copy of the author’s book, Fairies of the Night. The event will be a fun filled fairy time for all!
Yorkshire-born, Julie Ann Keenor is currently living in rural, stunning Devon. Many of her stories are influenced by the settings around this area and her family.
The first workshop starts at 10am and is for children ages 0-6 years. Julie will be reading from her book, looking at illustrations, rhyming words, colours and moods, followed by time for questions and answers.
The second workshop starts at 11.30am and is for children ages 6-9 years. It will include how to make a book, including writing and illustrating. You are also encouraged to bring your own short stories to share.
