Join in the Fun!
As we celebrate our Christmas Fayre, we invite you and your friends and family to join us in a day of fun, entertainment, community and festivities. On Sunday 3rd December 2023, we will be joining with The Parkhouse Centre to come together and enjoy a day of festivities to support our local community. This year we are changing things a bit by adding workshops and tours at The Castle for you to enjoy and live music in Café Limelight. So what’s in store this year……….
The Castle Heritage Centre A choice of Workshops and Heritage Tours in The Blanchminster Room and Live Music in The Willoughby Gallery. Café Limelight will be serving a selection of festive treats, food and drink during the day. Find out more in the section below.
The Parkhouse Centre Over 50 artisan stalls based inside and outside The Parkhouse Centre. Using the whole space, you will find The Ivor Potter Hall, Room 2/3 and the Foyers will be the hub of festive offers for you to browse and get some wonderful gifts. Magic Shows will be on twice, once at 11:30am and at 3pm. Santa’s Grotto will be at 12:30pm until 2:30pm, with a last entry to the room at 1:45pm. Claire’s Face Painting and Christmas Decoration Crafting will be available all day. The Outside Inn will be on hand to make sure that you are fed and watered, with a large selection of food and drinks.
Entry to The Castle and The Parkhouse and the entertainment is all free, thanks to the support of Bude-Stratton Town Council. Workshops may incur a cost, which is disclosed in the links. What's On at The Castle
New this year will be a selection of workshops to attend in The Blanchminster Room at The Castle. We have Wreath Making, Nature Inspired Weaving and Gift Wrapping as well as Castle Heritage Tours. There will be live music in Café Limelight all day with Betty Bluebird, who delights in singing traditional festive songs with a vintage twist and Fionnuala Kirby who will be serenading us with her enchanting Harp playing.

We’ve got you sorted for food and drink for the day. Café Limelight will be on hand to provide delicious snacks, festive cakes and light bites. See our menu board for a fabulous selection of hot and cold drinks and our food specials. We cater for vegans and gluten free, if in doubt, please check out menu or ask our staff.
Our Café is dog-friendly and there is even a local gift shop for you to browse and purchase any last minute gifts.

Betty Bluebird, AKA Lucy Ward will be in The Willoughby Gallery singing two sets during the day.
Starting at 11am, Betty Bluebird will be singing a host of vintage inspired festive tunes to get you in the festive mode and sing along.
She’ll be back at 1:15pm to sing more festive tunes, so make sure you pop by, grab a cuppa and festive treat and enjoy being wrapped up in the warm.

Fionnuala Kirby is a Celtic Harpist based in Devon with wide repertoire of traditional, classical, popular and religious tunes, and some Paraguayan harp music.
She will be playing in The Willoughby Gallery two times during the day, with the first one at 11:45am and again at 2:30pm.
Come and enjoy how Fionnuala takes you back to time of magic and beauty with the sound of the Celtic Harp.


Join Luna Redhead to see how to create your own gift bags, pillow box envelopes and decorated elements to enhance your own creations. Using a mixture of craft supplies and recycled materials, Luna will demonstrate how to create your own festive gift wrap. The workshop will be made up of demonstrations and a chance to create a tissue paper flower. A copy of the instructions will be distributed to each participant to take away with them.

Join our Castle and Culture Manager, Mark Berridge, for a guided tour of The Castle at our Heritage Festival. Built in 1830 by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney as one of his many experiments, today it houses a unique collection of artefacts. Discover more about Bude’s fascinating and diverse history, as well as the history of The Castle itself and its past residents.



What's On at The Parkhouse Centre
Starting at 11am we will have over 50 artisan stalls based inside and outside The Parkhouse Centre. Using the whole space, you will find The Ivor Potter Hall, Room 2/3 and the Foyers will be the hub of festive offers for you to browse and get some wonderful gifts. Supporting our local artisans, you will have a large choice on offer as you are met with the festive tunes from DJ Andy King. The Outside Inn will be on hand to make sure that you are fed and watered, with a large selection of food and drinks. There is entertainment for the whole family in Rooms 1 and 4. Both activities are free and supported by Bude-Stratton Town Council.
In Room 1, we have a mix of Magic Shows from the wonderful Adrian Ward Magic from 11:30am until 12pm. Then Santa’s Grotto will be open from 12:30pm until 2:30pm, last entry for Santa’s Grotto will be at 1:45pm. Lastly the final Magic Show will be from 3pm until 3:30pm. All Magic Shows and Santa’s Grotto is free to attend.

We’ve got you sorted for food and drink for the day. The Outside Inn will be in the foyer of The Ivor Potter Hall at The Parkhouse Centre providing hot and cold snacks, a selection of drinks as well as a licensed bar.

DJ Andy King will be keeping all things festive whilst you browse the stalls in the Ivor Potter Hall. untryman Inn near Launceston, which is where the band’s name originates, where they soon found a mutual love of singing in harmony.

Every child should be made to feel special and Adrian makes sure that that happens in his shows. It’s the children that make the magic happen. Adrian will invite those with their legs crossed, arms folded and the biggest smiles to help make the magic happen.

As part of the special visit, Santa will be handing out a free festive ornament to hang on your tree. Visit the free craft room in Room 4 afterwards to decorate and personalise your free gift.

Claire Taylor will be on hand all day in Room 4 to to provide face painting for all those smiley faces!
In addition, there will also be craft tables for the children to decorate their own Christmas gifts from Santa’s Grotto visit.
These activities have been subsidised by Bude-Stratton Town Council so there is no cost to the public for the duration of the day.
